Guest Post: SHATTERED DAYDREAMS Blog Tour

Hello Everyone!  Today, it is a distinct  honor and privilege to introduce all of you to a dear friend of mine,  Author, Nonnie Jules.  Nonnie, is not only a talented writer, she is also the Founder and President of RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB!  Take it away, Nonnie…

Hi and welcome to Day 6 of my SHATTERED DAYDREAMS Blog Tour!

Before I get started, let me give you a little background on me first.  My most important job is being a Mom!  It is the hardest and yet the most rewarding job one could ever hope to have.  (Men, so sorry you will never get to experience what I’m talking about).  After having produced two of the most special daughters in all the land, I knew that I would somehow become an advisor to other parents, so becoming an author of Parenting Guides, was almost a given.  That was my niche but I also wanted to tell another kind of story.  It was still going to be about children, but it would have a darker side to it, while still conveying a message that I wanted to bring attention to.

In November, 2013, I published my debut novel “DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND.”  Now, I know most of the novels you probably read are romance and fantasy, light, airy tales, but this one was going to take you to a place that some of you had never been, and unfortunately, some of you have.  This story was going to pull you down before it brought you up.  It intentionally was meant to make you cry before it made you smile.

We all have a purpose here on earth, even child molesters, murderers and the other monsters who offer nothing but horrid havoc to our society.  And although I don’t know for sure WHAT their purpose could possibly be, it is my belief  that GOD makes no mistakes, so in my mind, they are here to teach us lessons…to keep us on our toes, to remind us to be more mindful of our children and loved ones.

The mother in DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND, missed the mark on all of the above counts.  She was truly one sad excuse for a parent.  Actually, I count her among those monsters mentioned, and from this point on, you have my permission to refer to her as anything other than a MOTHER.

Today, I’d like all the focus to be on the book trailer for DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND.  If you haven’t seen it before, please, take a look and take in the message that’s being conveyed.  Let it resonate with you so that you are moved to join my crusade to stop the abuse of our children.  If you have seen it before, please take the time to click the link, share your comments and LIKE it before you leave.  Whatever you do, you’re already so appreciated just for stopping by.

I thank you so much for having me today.  I ask that you follow each leg of my tour (click HERE for the line-up) as each day I will offer a bit more insight into the lives of children who are abused, as well as the mothers who sit back and allow it to happen, or are the culprits themselves.  I will also share excerpts from the book for your reading pleasure.  Ladies and Gents, this week, you’re invited to partake of SHATTERED DAYDREAMS, as shared through the eyes of my main character, Maiya James.

If the EXCERPT above peeked your curiosity for more, please pick up your very own copy of “DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND.”  The content inside is enough to put you on the right track if you even remotely resemble (God forbid), this kind of mother.  But if you’re just in the mood for a really good read, I guarantee, you won’t go wrong with this one!

From this day forward, let’s do our best to ensure that all the Maiya’s of the world are taken care of, loved and protected.  Dani, I love you for always welcoming me to your blog!  I can’t visit here often enough but that’s only because you always make me feel so welcome.  Guests, please share your comments below.

AUTHOR BIO:

Nonnie Jules is the mother of two beautifully kind daughters, who along with the help of her husband, have turned out to be two of the greatest assets to this world.  THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS is her first published piece of work and two weeks after publication, it hit Amazon’s Top 100 list, where it reached the #7 mark.  With all the violence which is being exhibited by some children today, it is her vision and goal to get THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE…into the hands of everyone who breathes around a child.  She feels the only way we can make this happen, is if we are all working from a common blueprint.  Ms. Jules strongly believes that every opportunity we are given with a child, should be a teaching one for us and a learning one for them.

So far, Nonnie has authored two other books:  a novel which she released in November of 2013, entitled “DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, NIGHTMARE’S FRIEND” and “SUGARCOATIN’ IS FOR CANDY & PACIFYIN’ IS FOR KIDS!” where she shares her no-holds-barred style of teaching us all about support and social media.  Her second parenting guide {THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO BULLY-PROOF KIDS} is due for release the beginning of January, 2015 and the sequel to her debut novel, DAYDREAM’S DAUGHTER, shortly after.  (Both have been delayed due to her extensive workload with Rave Reviews Book Club).

She is a fan of the well-written word, and so along with 3 partners, she started 4WillsPublishing Co. in November, 2013 to assist other writers in putting out their best work ever.  By December, 2013, she had founded the RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB where in less than a year, the membership has rapidly grown to well over 500.  If you’re not a member yet, this is your personal invitation to JOIN US!

#RaveReviewsBookClub’s Blog Recruiting Day Contest

Hi Everyone!

This fictionalized post constitutes my “entry” into RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB’s Blog Recruiting Day Contesthttp://ravereviewsbynonniejules.wordpress.com/blog-recruitment-day/.   As a Board member of RRBC, I’m not eligible to win, but I decided to have a little fun with this as a way of supporting my fellow bloggers.  The result is a make-believe newspaper report with a little sci-fi thrown in for good measure.  But the best part of all?  The bank story near the end really did happen!  Read on to learn more…

Authors, Readers Race to Join RAVE REVIEWS  as NORAD Identifies Elite Book Club as ‘Benevolent Organization’

May 20, 2014 — PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Much to the elation of authors and readers everywhere, the mystery of the once Unknown Fabulous Organization (UFO) spotted hovering in cyberspace has finally been solved.   According to officials from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the former UFO which has had indie authors everywhere abuzz for the last several months, “has once and for all been conclusively identified.”  So who’s been behind these numerous internet-based sightings?  As it turns out, it’s none other than the illustrious group which goes by the name, RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB (RRBC).

“Without a doubt, they’re an elite book club on the move,” NORAD’s Commander, Reed Readers told reporters yesterday at a news conference held just outside Peterson Air Force Base.  “To be clear, RRBC poses absolutely no threat to national or global security.  If anything, it’s become clear they’re a benevolent organization.”

Also present at yesterday’s press conference was RAVE REVIEWS’ PR/Marketing Director, Danica Cornell.  When asked about RRBC’s mission, Cornell said, “Our mission is to Profile, Promote and Propel the careers of indie authors.  Simply put, we do this by supporting each of our authors with book sales and reviews.”  She then added, “Even though we’re a young book club, we’ve already held a short story and a poetry writing contest!   In addition, we routinely select a Book of the Month plus we regularly shine a spotlight on members through our SPOTLIGHT AUTHOR and #PUSHTUESDAY programs.  In each instance, we encourage our members to purchase, read, and review the books written by these selected member-authors.”

Research into the club’s activities shows tremendous support for RAVE REVIEWS members on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites.

“We’re very much like a family,” Cornell told the packed audience.  “We genuinely care about one another and strive to hold each other up on social networking sites whenever possible.  We also believe in engaging our members through our website’s Peer Support page.  This is where questions and answers related to writing, publishing, marketing, social media, blogging, etc. can be posted by members.”

In visiting the club’s website, it became evident that RAVE REVIEWS offers a number of Perks and Promos, including programs such as Reviewer of the Year, where the top book reviewer-member will win a $200.00 Amazon Gift Card!  Additionally, RRBC recently implemented a Mentoring Program which offers the following benefits for its members:

  • Three months of One-On-One consultations via phone calls, email, or e-Chat, with your Mentor;
  • Questions answered regarding writing, publishing, and marketing;
  • A critique of your completed, or partially completed, manuscript. A writing sample is acceptable as well. The critiquing is done by the Mentor and includes helpful hints and suggestions about what could make the writing better (in the Mentor’s opinion);
  • Access to a collection of advice articles in PDF form;
  • Access to a list of contacts offering a variety of book-related services.

When questioned about the club’s history, Cornell elaborated, “We formed at the very end of last year and we’re already over 400 members strong!  And it’s no secret why we’ve been so successful.  We have a visionary leader in our Founder and President, Nonnie Jules.  We also have a dedicated Governing Board—each of whom are committed to developing this book club into everything it can possibly be.  All I can say is the word is getting out— we’re already seeing evidence of name recognition among readers.”

When pressed for details Cornell said, “I myself have experienced this!  Just a few weeks ago I went into my bank and wouldn’t you know it?  One of the employees had heard of RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB.  She’s an avid reader and had seen us on Twitter!  All I can say is authors and readers are racing to join our organization—and why not?  It’s currently FREE and there really is something  for everyone at RRBC.   Besides, it’s a lot of fun.  I guess that makes RAVE REVIEWS all the rave! ”

Danica Cornell Welcomes the One and Only, Nonnie Jules!

Hello, and welcome to Day 11 of my two week-long, “JUST MY TWO CENTS” Blog Tour.  My dear, dear friend and co-worker, Danica Cornell has graciously invited me to share with her readers today and I’m so thankful and happy to be at her beautiful place, with her beautiful spirit and smile.  Danica and I “serve” together at Rave Reviews Book Club and we do it gladly, day in and day out.  You say you’ve never heard of RRBC?  Really?  Well, since we’re at Danica’s and you’re her guests, I will let her tell you all about it after I’m gone.

Next month will mark the anniversary of my burst onto the social media scene and during that time, I have published three REALLY GOOD books and have learned so very much about the industry.  Although I’ve been a writer for most of my life (actually, I was born one), I only just became a published author in 2013.  Some might say, “In that short amount of time, what does she know?” Well, I’m here to tell you that “SHE” has learned a lot!  “SHE” has taken the time to hone her skills in the writing department as well as her knowledge.  “SHE” has taken the bull by the horn and run full speed ahead in building her author platform and establishing herself in the writing industry.  “SHE” is making her name KNOWN.

On each stop of my tour, I will give you my TWO-CENTS on a particular topic from the writing industry.  I hope that what I am imparting, you will take, mull over, and then act on in the best interest of YOU.

With that being said, here is JUST MY TWO CENTS ON…

“TROLLING FOR TROUBLE”

This will be the second time on my tour that I have mentioned misery and how much it loves company.  Today, I’m going to talk about that term that has been attached to those “haters” over in Goodreads-land.  Now, I know some of you love Goodreads, and that’s fine, but I tend to choose not to get too taken with people and places that are filled with ugly and negativity.  It seems Goodreads was made to house both of these criminals.  I think the word they use over there is TROLLS, and I think they use this word for anyone who dares to come into their territory and DISAGREE with them.  But today, we’re turning it around on them, because I think TROLLS are nothing but TROUBLE-MAKERS.

These people literally peruse sites looking for anything they can find wrong with someone else’s book. If they don’t like the title, the cover, the author’s name…whatever it is, they find something to spark an ugly conversation about it.  And even if there is NOTHING wrong to be found, oh, let me tell you…they will CREATE something.  I call this “trolling for trouble.”  There’s always a ring-leader who gets the other trolls all riled up and standing behind her.  They stand behind her in this little army-like fashion until the one she’s attacking “comes for her,” and then she somehow finds her way to the very back.  Because even though these “cowards”…I mean “trolls,” are hiding behind their keyboards feeling tough, they still feel defenseless when strong, intelligent words are thrown in their direction.  See, intelligence of any kind, frightens them.  They like to use those words that are used by people with very limited vocabularies.  I don’t need to spell those words out for you, we all know the ones I’m speaking of.  These trolls also seek out books with sterling 5 star reviews and intentionally leave poor reviews just to mess up this author’s rating.  Intentionally!  How sick is this?

So I say to you today, STAND UP to these “bullies,”… oops, there I go again, I mean “trolls” and let them know that they are “trolling for trouble” in the wrong place.  Let them know that you will not be intimidated by their ugliness or their very limited vocabularies.  Show them that you will not back down from their little army of troll followers and that you will stand tall and strong until they go away.

We can’t please everyone all the time, but we can surely keep those little troubled trolls on the run!

Thanks for allowing me to share my two-cents with you today and if you’d like to follow my tour, please do so at www.nonniewrites.wordpress.com  and do share your thoughts!

Introducing Author, Nonnie Jules’ “Daughters: The Good and The Bad” Blog Tour

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to my friend, the lovely and talented Nonnie Jules, author of THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS and Daydream’s Daughter, Nightmare’s Friend.

Hello, and welcome to “Daughters:  The Good and The Bad” Blog Tour.  First, I’d like to thank Danica for inviting me over and kicking off this tour.  It’s running for ten days and if you’d like to follow the tour, please do so here http://wp.me/p3sUCq-KA.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Nonnie Jules as you may have noticed when you walked thru the door and I’m a resident of a small town in Louisiana.  I am the mother of two wonderful daughters, adult and teenager, and husband to one wonderful man.  I also am “NaNa” to a host of 4-legged babies, who I all love just as much as my 2-legged ones.

My first published work is entitled THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS”, 100 Tips on Raising Daughters Everyone Can’t Help But Love!  It was published in May, 2013.

My debut novel is entitled “Daydream’s Daughter, Nightmare’s Friend and it was recently released at the end of November, 2013.

Becoming a published author for me was very exciting!  Especially since writing my first book only took me 17 days.  I didn’t have to do any research because I had lived every tip in the book.  I had taught every tip in the book, if not to my own daughters, to someone else’s daughter who had crossed my path.  Shall I share that it t’was very easy penning this book?   I enjoyed every moment of putting it together, every 102 pages of it.

Then, I decided I wanted to write a novel, and of course, it would also be about my favorite topic…daughters.  Well, I shouted to the world that my novel would be released  ON AUGUST 22, 2013!  Little did I know that this wonderful, pint-sized book, would not be released until a full three months later.

I know you’re wondering why it took so long to release after the original release date.  Well, to put it honestly, I didn’t know it would be such hard work.  I soon came to realize that this baby was going to require a lot more than my non-fiction, how-to guide had.  I had to travel.  I had to  do TONS of  research.  I went without sleep, food and water just to get this book out into the universe.  I had to edit (a whole lot more closely than I had with my non-fiction guide) and then I had to re-edit, and re-edit some more.  This book took a lot out of me.

It is always important to me that I share my experiences with others, especially “newbies” who are just entering the field of writing.  Sometimes, the pressures are just so much that you might feel like giving up, and just quitting all together.  I am here to tell you to keep going.  Keep at it, until you get it right and until it feels second nature to you.  My novel caused me tons of sleepless nights and in honor of full disclosure, it also caused me a few tears as well.  But in the end, I was so proud of this great work I had put out (yes, it’s great in my eyes).  And when it was all finished, I was extremely proud of every single 370 pages I had put into it.

I found there to be a big difference in writing my non-fiction piece of work as opposed to my fictional novel.  You will not view this journey as I had because you will more-than-likely have to do research for your book, unless of course, you’re writing one that you actually lived, just as I had.

I found that creating characters, places and entities entailed a lot more than the research I could get from the internet.  I had to go to the city I was writing about and I spent  countless days getting to know it as well as every entity and establishment mentioned in my book.  Why?  Because I wanted it to be as believable as possible and to me, that’s a sign of a true writer.  The pizza parlor mentioned in my book…yes, I ate there and IT IS the most awesome pizza in all the land!  So, if you find that you can pen a book without the research and it’s still a good read, I say “go for it!”  But, more than not, you probably won’t be able to get away from it.  So for me, the difference between writing my non-fiction guide and my fictional one, was all about the time it took to pen it, and the amount of research I had to put into it.  But whatever it ends up being for you, just give it your best and that’s all the readers want from us…our very best!

I’d like to thank you all for letting me share with you and as mentioned above, I hope you will follow each stop on the tour.  I am giving away a “Daydream’s Daughter, Nightmare’s Friend” Swag Pack and also two $5 Amazon Gift Cards to 3 lucky winners.  All you have to do is leave a comment here before you leave.  If you visit each stop on the tour and comment, you will earn 1 entry for each comment left.  The more you enter, the better your chances of winning.

I invite you to check out my writing on my blog (which is extremely interesting all the time!) at www.nonniewrites.wordpress.com and I ask that you follow me as well.  I can be found most days on Twitter supporting my fellow authors while promoting my own work @nonniejules.

It’s Christmas time and books make the perfect gifts. If there is a new mom in your world or you have a friend or family member with young daughters, why not gift them a copy of “THE GOOD MOMMIE’S GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS”?  You may get copies from www.amazon.com/dp/B00CP62O56 or autographed copies from www.nonniesbookstore.com .  Please know  that this guide is helping to change the world for the better.  “Daydream’s Daughter, Nightmare’s Friend” would also make a perfect gift for an avid reader in your life.  Get your ebook copy at www.amazon.com/dp/B00GLM2VVM.  Paperback copies will be ready for purchase on Amazon, Createspace, B&N.com and at Nonnie’s Book Store (autographed copies) by Thursday, 12/5/13.
